Praevalere Coffee is expected to open its doors at 5678 Stoneridge Drive for the first time in late September or early October. Founder Merna Nashed has been developing the concept and business since 2024. Operating hours will be 6 am to 6 pm, at least initially, and far more than coffee will be available. Beverage options will include fresh-squeezed orange juice and traditional Turkish coffee, reflecting part of Nashed's cultural roots. The business will also offer chocolate croissants, bagels, scones, and breakfast sandwiches, along with a small selection of lunch options.
Nashed's goal is to create a coffee space that invites people to slow down, feel grounded, and connect with themselves or with others, she says. "Everything we do is built around that intention. Most coffee shops focus on the morning rush. We're more interested in what happens after, when people are winding down, transitioning out of work mode, or looking for a calm space to reset. Praevalere is designed to support those quieter moments. It's not just about caffeine; it's about creating an atmosphere that helps people feel grounded, focused, or even creatively recharged."
The company wants to appeal to fellow Hacienda businesses as well as individuals who work and live nearby. Praevalere is in the process of developing a coffee catering program specifically for nearby offices and local businesses, for example. "It's something we've been asked about more than once, and it fits naturally with our goal of being a trusted part of the workday, not just for individuals but for teams," Nashed notes. "It's also a great way to introduce people to the brand before they ever step into the shop."
Many may assume that running a coffee shop is just about making drinks, but there's a lot more behind the scenes, according to Nashed. "We've had to think about the layout, the furniture, how people move through the space, and even the kind of feeling we want someone to have when they walk in. It's part hospitality, part design, part storytelling, and it all has to come together in a way that feels natural, not forced."
Praevalere Coffee is meant to be an attractive and appealing space. "Something we've heard again and again, especially from locals, is how much people have been craving a welcoming place to sit, talk, or just take a breather," Nashed says. "Whether it's students studying or friends catching up, there hasn't been a space that really invites that kind of everyday connection. We're creating a spot that feels warm and comfortable, where people actually want to spend time. Independent businesses bring a different kind of richness to the area–we're here to create culture, not just coffee. And we're always open to collaborating with neighboring businesses that share a vision of connection and excellence."
After a soft launch later this year, Praevalere Coffee will host a series of evening events that reflect the company's focus on slow, intentional gathering. These will include Silent Book Club nights, where people can bring a book and read quietly together, and Poetry and Open Mic evenings designed to create space for local writers and creatives to share their work in an intimate, welcoming setting. Event dates and more information will be shared on Praevalere Coffee's website and social media closer to opening.
"We chose Hacienda for its central location, walkability, and professional yet welcoming atmosphere," adds Nashed. "It felt like the right environment to introduce a new kind of coffee shop, one built for both productivity and presence. This is our first and only location for now. That said, we are building a long-term brand vision with future plans to grow, possibly into additional storefronts or creative collaborations that reflect our ethos."
